Gender Sensitivity in The Court System
The study looks in to court rules to assess the responsiveness of the Judiciary to gender issues. Records of selected court proceedings are also examined to gauge the extent of gender sensitivity (for insensitivity) in our court. For the Judiciary the study can be painful look into the mirror, but it is nonetheless necessary. Here we have a tool which can guide the Supreme Court in fashioning more effective is a Judiciary that delivers fair justice and which is perceived to be able to do so. This work therefore offos immense assistance in achieving a Judiciary that is worthy of public trust and confidence as envisioned in the Davide Watch. This study which has distinction of being the first of its kind in Asia, is very gladly received and it is hope that the readers will find it an opportunity to asses or participation in the efforts to achieve reform in the administration of justice in the country.
