Taken at the Flood : marine resource use and management in the Aru Islands (Maluku, Eastern Indonesia)

I clearly remember the 'Aru study day' in 1995 which I attended with Gerard Persoon. This day was organized by Hans Nooteboom of the National Herbarium and the programme consisted of presentations of the results of short visits to the Aru Islands by various scientists as well a few participants of the Environmental Programme Maluku. This EU-funded project was carried out by AlDEnvironment in Amsterdam in co-operation with the Centre of Environmental Science in Leiden and the Pattimura University in Ambon. On the basis of this project, NWO/WOTRO has funded a PhD research on Aru for an anthropologist.
