Functionalism in The Social Sciences : the strength and limits of functionalism in anthropology, economics, political science, and sociology
Of all the social sciences, probably anthropology has made fullest use of a functionalist. This is unquestionably because the anthropologist, concerning himself with many and varied types of cultural and social sys- tems, has been obliged to deal with phenomena in different socie- ties which, at first glance similar, prove to operate differently in different contexts of human behavior.
