Dynamics of Land Tenure System : the case study of the Kasepuhan Cipta Rasa, West Java, Indonesia
In March 1990, the follower group of the Kasepuhan Ciptarasa in West Java, which dwells in the area surrounding Mount Halimun (Misty Mountain), violated the state law on forestry. The group opened a frontier road from its hamlet to the market area measuring 12 kilometers (km) long and 4 meters (m) wide, and cut 58 wood trees with a volume of 62,400 cubic meters (cu m; Department of Forestry 1990). The area was under the jurisdiction of two forestry department units, the conservation unit (National Park) and the state forest company unit (Perhutani).
