Although many national constitutions prohibit racial discrimination, indigenous peoples are facing pervasive racial discrimination in their daily lives, which has farreaching consequences for their well-being and human rights situation. It is a major responsibility of the international community to address the extreme racial discrimination and marginalization faced by indigenous peoples the world over and to safeguard their human rights.
